Lynk & Co 03 Sedan Looks Pretty Close To The Concept

Aug. 05, 2018 7:10 AM ET by Noah Joseph / 7 Comments Whether that's a good thing or not is a matter of taste. Lynk & Co is ramping up its product lineup. So far all we've seen are crossovers, but now it's rolling out its first sedan. Set to debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in China next month, Lynk's new 03 sedan looks pretty close to the concept version (pictured below in white) unveiled last spring. The lower bumpers have been restyled, and the roof on the debut model is painted to match the red bodywork. But the overall form and (most notably) the lights at both ends look almost entirely like the show car's. Lynk & Co Whether that's a good thing or not, of course, will largely be a matter of taste. The bodywork is pretty tall, leaving a lot of sheetmetal in between the wheel arches and the top of the fenders. And the gaping maw, topped by high-mounted headlights, may not be for everyone. The vehicle's underpinned by the same Compact Modular Architecture that sister-brand Volvo has rolled out in the form of the new XC40. We've yet to see technical specifications for the sedan, but the word on the street is that it'll offer a 1.5-liter inline-three and a 2.0-liter four – both turbocharged – with a hybrid version likely to follow. Geely's new Lynk & Co brand is expected to compete in markets like China and Europe. Just which models might ever make it to the United States, we don't know. But the 01 and 02 crossover sport-utes seem like smarter bets in a market that's getting further and further away from passenger sedans and more towards pickups, SUVs, and crossovers. For now, we'll just wait to see the Lynk 03 unveiled in full at the Chengdu show that's set to open in the middle of September, so watch this space. Lynk & Co Lynk & Co
