Hennessey' s 10 000th Vehicle Is This Supercharged Ford Mustang GT With 808 HP

Aug. 02, 2018 2:10 PM ET by Jay Traugott Muscle Cars / 6 Comments Meet the 2019 HPE Heritage Edition Mustang. It's fast. Very fast. Texas-based aftermarket tuner and hypercar builder Hennessey Performance is celebrating a huge milestone, building its 10,000th vehicle. The vehicle chosen for this honor? A Ford Mustang GT. But in the typical Hennessey tradition, leaving it stock was not an option. The 2019 Hennessey Heritage Edition Mustang is inspired by the 2018 Ford GT Heritage Edition with its exterior livery and general high-performance ethos. "We love the design and livery of the 2018 Ford GT Heritage Edition supercar that we took delivery of earlier this year. We thought that this look on our specially tuned Hennessey Mustang would also be very appropriate and a great way to celebrate our 10,000th build", said John Hennessey. "This is one of the most beautiful Mustang we've ever built, and it has the power and performance to match its gorgeous looks." Under the hood lies a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that produces 808 hp at 7,200 rpm and 677 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. Zero to 60 mph requires only 3.3 seconds and top speed, again according to Hennessey, is "over 200 mph." This is made possible thanks to performance modifications like 3.0-liter supercharger system, high-flow air induction system, and stainless steel exhaust system. Pricing begins at $89,950. Hennessey Performance The exterior in particular was the focus of some special work. Examples include a special graphics package, carbon fiber front splitter, side sills, and rear spoiler. A set of 20-inch alloy wheels come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires. Optional Brembo calipers are on all four wheels, 6-piston up front and 4-piston at the rear. The suspension has also been lowered. Buyers will also have a choice between a six-speed manual and the 10-speed automatic transmission. Hennessey tells us it plans to build only 19 examples, each one with its own dash and engine plaques and serial number.
