The Sound Of The Apollo Intensa Emozione Will Shatter Bones

The company behind the Gumpert Apollo is back, this time with a new name and a new car. Called the Apollo Intensa Emozione, translating to intense emotion, this is an extreme, track-focused hypercar with a 780 horsepower V12 engine. Intense may be a bit of an understatement. Apollo has already said it thinks modern supercars are too easy to drive and that the Intensa Emozione would drive more like a GT1 race car from the 1990s. We've already heard how good the Apollo IE's V12 sounds, but that test was performed below 4,000 rpm. At the 2018 Supercar Owners Club weekend in Switzerland, Apollo brought out the IE and let it run down the drag strip, showing us how good it really sounds. The car's 6.3-liter V12 sounds like a fire-breathing monster, and crackles, unlike anything we've heard before. That said, it sounds like the driver wasn't going at full throttle, so there may be even more to extract from this amazing car when it hits redline. The engine is borrowed from a Ferrari F12Berlinetta and revs to 9,000 rpm, so it doesn't shock us with how good it sounds. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox, allowing for a 0-60 mph time of just 2.7 seconds. Unfortunately, the car costs $2.7 million and only ten will be built, so the chances of hearing one in person will be very slim. Gumpert Apollo Automobil
