Upcoming Audi e-Tron Will Have A Cool Built-In Toll Device

We are just days away from the big reveal of the Audi e-Tron SUV, which is set to debut on September 17th. The e-Tron will jump right into battle with the Jaguar I-Pace, the recently revealed Mercedes-Benz EQC, and the upcoming BMW iX3. We'll have to wait until the official reveal to learn more about pricing, but we know it will sell for around 80,000 Euros in other markets. For now, Audi has teased us with a small feature that will be included on the e-Tron. Audi Earlier this year, Audi showed off a new feature called the Integrated Toll Module (ITM). The ITM is a toll transponder that is built into the rearview mirror, thus eliminating the need to stick a separate unit on the windshield. This system will work in the US and Canada, and acts as a nice feature for drivers who frequent toll roads on their daily commute. Audi says the system can also switch between different toll accounts through the MMI infotainment system and manage settings for HOV lanes. The ITM is part of Audi's line of vehicle-to-infrastructure technology. Audi has also been testing a traffic light system that can tell you how long red lights will last. Although we'll have to wait to see these technologies in practice, Audi says it is now taking deposits for its upcoming e-Tron SUV. Audi will charge a refundable $1,000 reservation fee, with the e-Tron expected to arrive in early 2019.
