Finally The 2019 Toyota Camry Receiving Apple CarPlay Compatibility

Aug. 15, 2018 4:35 PM ET by Jay Traugott Technology / 7 Comments But what about Android users? Smartphone systems like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have fast become standard car features. Buyers expect their new rides to have them, forcing automakers to make their infotainment systems compatible for both, as well as Amazon Alexa. According to Cars Direct, the 2019 Toyota Camry and Sienna minivan are the latest models to receive Apple CarPlay support and Amazon Alexa integration. But wait, what about Android Auto? Nope. Too much too soon for Toyota, apparently. The new for 2019 Avalon full-size sedan was the first Toyota model in North America to offer Apple CarPlay compatibility, and only recently launched Entune 3. . Previous versions of Entune were nowhere near as good as, for example, FCA's UConnect. Combined with Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa, which allows users to complete tasks such as ordering food, check the weather, get directions, and much more, Entune 3.0 is finally the infotainment system Toyota has needed for so long. In regards to Android Auto compatibility, well, let's hope Toyota read the memo that there are far more Android smartphones in the US than iPhones. During our test drive of the 2018 Toyota Camry, we noted just how much of an improvement, dynamics wise, it is over its predecessors. The latest Camry is actually fun to drive. Its exterior appearance is equally bold, but we suspect the design won't appeal to everyone. However, its interior is top-notch, as always, and we especially liked the refreshed 8.0-inch touchscreen. And now it'll be even better with Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto. Toyota Toyota Toyota Toyota
