How To Become A Badass Subaru WRX STI And BRZ Driver

Nov. 23, 2018 4:40 PM ET by Jay Traugott / 5 Comments This isn't your ordinary driving school. So you just went out and bought yourself a new Subaru WRX STI or BRZ. Congratulations are in order. Both were engineered from the get-go for enthusiast drivers who cringe at the thought of cars being nothing more than basic transport. However, not everyone has the skills to get the most from these rides, which is why Subaru has just announced it has renewed its partnership with the DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, Washington. This isn't your ordinary driving school, but one built on 315 acres of dirt, mud, tarmac and gravel roads. Indoor classroom time consists of driving simulators and courses taught by highly qualified instructors. Many of these instructors have campaigned on the DirtFish Motorsports Team, which has campaigned WRX STIs and BRZs in the American Rally Association championship alongside Subaru Rally Team USA. And they want you to learn their driving skills. "Subaru vehicles are engineered to deliver maximum driver involvement, confidence and control," said Bill Stokes, Motorsports Manager for Subaru of America. "At DirtFish, driving enthusiasts and drivers of all levels can experience that engineering and performance, while developing their skills to be faster, safer and more consistent." Subaru has also announced it'll provide new 2018 WRX STIs that'll be converted into school cars because it's time to replace some aging vehicles. Subaru also wants students to have the most up-to-date toys at their disposal. Subaru "At DirtFish, we pride ourselves on providing a safe learning environment year round while also giving our students an experience that they will remember forever," said Malli Sheaffer, General Manager of DirtFish. "Students (will learn) valuable skills on loose surfaces while utilizing the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and rear-wheel drive platforms to showcase the capabilities of both Subaru WRX STI and BRZ models." The only difficulty students may encounter upon course completion is where to take their WRX STIs and BRZs to further hone their newly learned skills. It's actually not a bad problem to have.
