Toyota Camry And Avalon TRD Debut In LA With Sporty Styling

Nov. 29, 2018 2:55 PM ET by Martin Bigg / 5 Comments But don't expect any power upgrades. Just before the LA Auto Show opened its doors, Toyota gave us a preview of the Camry and Avalon TRD. Now, the sporty sedans have made their public debut, and they look suitably sporty in the metal. While the standard Camry and Avalon are understated, the TRD versions get an aerodynamic body kit that adds a front splitter, side aero skirts, trunk lid spoiler, and rear diffuser. CarBuzz The brake calipers are also finished in red, while red pinstriping and TRD badging remind you that you're sat inside a spicier version of the Camry or Avalon. TRD logos have also been applied to the interior along with red accents on the trim. Both cars get larger front brakes, while the Camry also gets stiffer coil springs and front/rear sway bars, increasing roll stiffness by 44 percent in the front and 67 percent in the back for a sharper driving experience. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz A specially tuned cat-back dual exhaust has also been added that produces a more aggressive sound, but there are no powertrain upgrades, sadly. That means the 3.5-liter V6 produces 301 hp, which is still respectable, but hardly earth-shattering. An eight-speed automatic is also still the only available transmission option. The new Camry and Avalon TRD models will go on sale in the fall of 2019 with limited availability. CarBuzz CarBuzz
