It's no secret that Ferrari is working on its first ever SUV currently known as the Purosangue (Italian for 'thoroughbred'), though it hasn't been confirmed if this will be the final name when it arrives in showrooms. Testing of the Purosangue seems to already be underway, as a video uploaded by SupercarsNews appears to show a prototype undergoing testing at the Maranello factory. Sadly, we only get a fleeting glimpse of the prototype as the test driver seemingly spots the eagle-eyed videographer behind the fence and reverses out of sight. Since development is still at an early stage, the test mule is based on the existing GTC4Lusso with lifted suspension. According to Ferrari, the Purosangue will feature a five-door body and adopt a coupe-style shape that's smaller than the Lamborghini Urus. The Purosangue will ride on Ferrari's new Front Mid Engine Architecture and feature a front-mounted engine positioned behind the wheels and a dual-clutch gearbox at the rear. Ferrari is remaining tight-lipped about the engine but confirmed the SUV will be available with either a hybrid or pure combustion engine setup. Rumors suggest the hybrid option will include a V6 engine. Coincidentally, a mysterious Ferrari hybrid supercar was also recently spotted testing at the Fiorano Circuit. Ferrari Ferrari Ferrari The Purosangue will form part of Ferrari's upcoming product onslaught as the automaker recently confirmed plans to unleash 15 new models between now and 2022. By then, the automaker estimates that 60 percent of its cars sold by then will be hybrids.
