Jeremy Clarkson' s Car Of The Year Looks Incredible In Any Color

Oct. 15, 2018 9:11 PM ET by Jay Traugott / 9 Comments Hint: it's not the FSO Polonez. Jeremy Clarkson is no stranger to fast cars. He's no stranger to any cars, really. The guy can driver whatever he wants whenever he wants after only a phone call or text message to the relevant person(s). After all, he's the former host of Top Gear and his current gig is Amazon's The Grand Tour. To say his car guy credentials are very much confirmed would be an understatement. And as 2018 begins to wrap up, it's time to start making some decisions as to which cars that had their debuts over the past 12 months are the best. Of course Jezza picked one. What is it? The Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Lamborghini Lamborghini He has just presented the inaugural award in conjunction with The Sunday Times and The Sun newspapers at News Corp's London Headquarters. Clarkson, who also writes a column for The Sunday Times, had this to say about the Huracan Performante: "This is about the car that appealed more than anything. You get into it and you don't know what it is that's tingling the back of your head, but you think 'this thing's good'. There's something about it: it's not the speed, it's not the looks. There's only really been one car in the last twelve months where I've had that feeling, and that's the Lamborghini Huracan Performante." Lamborghini Lamborghini Hard to argue with that considering the V10-powered supercar boasts a 0-62 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. It also previously set a Nurburgring lap record of 6:52.01, though that has since been defeated by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS (6:47.3), which was then surpassed by the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (6:44.97). Despite being overtaken at the 'Ring, the Huracan Performante and Performante Spyder are breathtaking machines, regardless of whatever color buyers choose (we happen to love matte blue). Along with its active aerodynamics systems and aero vectoring, the Huracan Performante looks stunning even at a standstill. And as Clarkson noted, it's the one car from 2018 that truly evoked the definition of special.
