FCA' s Mythical 7 0L V8 Might Be Real

According to the rumor mill, FCA looks to have a gargantuan 426 cubic inch V8 currently under development. It's thought the engine will first be deployed under the hood of the non-supercharged Ram Rebel TR, which will join the lineup just below the Hellcat propelled Rebel TRX. Word on the street has FCA boring out the naturally-aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi borrowed from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Durango SRT models to create the 7.0-liter, code-named "Banshee." Spy photographers stalking the top-secret project have been quick to claim the truck doesn't whine like the Hellcat-powered TRX mules. Ford Ram Trucks Dodge FCA has been toying with the idea of going after Ford's F-150 Raptor since the company debuted the Ram Rebel TRX concept at the State Fair of Texas way back in 2016. While the TRX is expected to offer up the Hellcat's 707-hp unadulterated, it's believed the "Banshee" 7.0-liter will generate 520 horses and 525 lb-ft of torque. Ram will be hoping there's still an appetite for a naturally-aspirated muscle truck by the time the truck actually debuts sometime in 2020. Dodge The new 7.0-liter would be a major improvement over the 5.7-liter tool making 395 hp and 410 lb-ft in the current Ram Rebel. It's understood that FCA is planning to differentiate between the two monster Rebels by offering them in slightly different flavors, with the 7.0-liter TR taking on the role of off-road warrior, thanks to it's smooth and predictable naturally-aspirated heart. The supercharged TRX would then take up a role focused on owning the street truck niche. We'll see if any of this proves to be true, but FCA does have an excellent track record of going in a completely different direction than the rest of the industry, a 7.0-liter V8 would be a welcome addition to a world in which GM sells the Silverado with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder.
