Presenting The 2020 Genesis G90

Nov. 27, 2018 6:05 AM ET by Jay Traugott Reveal / 21 Comments Time to add a further dose of styling. The 2020 Genesis G90 flagship sedan may look like a redesign, it is, in fact, a facelift, and a major one at that. The new G90 has just been revealed in South Korea and right away we like it better than its predecessor. How come? Its styling, courtesy of famed industry designer Luc Donckerwolke. The changes are immediately obvious, beginning with the newly shaped and larger grille. The bottom bumper air vents are widened as well. Meanwhile, the quad headlights feature a strip extending to the front fender. The hood has also been restyled. Rear end styling is even more different than before. For example, the full-width taillights offer a far more premium look than what was there previously. Another brand styling trait is called G-Matrix, which was inspired by light reflecting from an illuminating diamond, and this has been applied to the headlights and taillights. For the first time, the G-Matrix pattern has also been applied to the optional 19-inch wheels. "G90 is the ultimate expression of the Genesis brand," said Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President and Chief Design Officer of Hyundai Motor Group. "Before the first sketch was even drawn, my team of designers thought carefully about how to evolve its styling and create something even more elegant and harmonic." There's also a 12.3-inch display navigation system enabling users to zoom in and out of the touchscreen. The split screens are also highlighted with cool copper accents. Connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Among the many standard safety features, a few standouts include lane follow assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, forward collision-avoidance assist, and safe exist assist. Genesis Genesis Genesis Genesis has not yet stated what's under the hood, but we fully expect the current 5.0-liter V8 with 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft to return, along with the eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear or all four wheels. Full specs, as well as additional photos, pricing, and an on-sale date are expected shortly. Genesis Genesis Genesis
