This Rolls-Royce Fabergé Egg Is A Work Of Automotive Art

Rolls-Royce builds some of the most opulent vehicles on the road, built to a standard that is unrivaled by almost anyone. Even the company's logo, the Spirit of Ecstasy (or Flying Lady) is a work of art and can be ordered in various beautiful materials or even in illuminated glass. Now, Rolls-Royce has teamed up with Fabergé to create a one-of-a-kind collectible egg to show off the company's incredible craftsmanship. We thought the Spirit of Ecstasy was beautiful before but this egg takes it to a new level. Fabergé Eggs are some of the most valuable items in the world, with just 50 pre-1917 Imperial Eggs ever made. This Spirit of Ecstasy Fabergé Egg is just the second to ever be commissioned in the Imperial Class since 1917, making it an extremely rare item. The egg itself was built by seven craftspeople from Fabergé using the finest materials available. It stands at just 160 millimeters tall (6.3 inches) and weighs just 400 grams (0.88 pounds). Rolls-Royce The egg rests on an engine-turned, hand-engraved, purple enamel guilloché base of 18 karat white gold. Even the arms surrounding the Spirit of Ecstacy are made of white gold and form a protective cocoon around it. Upon operating a lever on the base, the arms spread out to reveal the beautiful Spirit of Ecstacy, which is hand-sculpted from frosted rock crystal. Sean Gilbertson, Chief Executive Officer, Fabergé said this "A unique moment in both our companies' history, the creation of the 'Spirit of Ecstasy' Egg represents the meeting of two masters of unrivaled quality and design, showcasing two globally recognized symbols – the Fabergé Egg and the Spirit of Ecstasy." The egg premiered at the House of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, West Sussex, England on October 23, and will now be put on display for the public at Fabergé's London window over Christmas. Rolls-Royce
