Jaguar F-Type Special Edition Celebrates 70 Years

Oct. 29, 2018 12:40 PM ET by John Tallodi Special Editions / Comments The 'Chequered Flag' edition comes packed with bespoke styling details. Jaguar has been building aspirational sports cars for decades. Starting with the beautiful XK120 in 1948, there has been a fast and elegant roadster or coupe on offer ever since. To celebrate 70-years of producing these desirable vehicles, Jaguar has just announced a special edition trim to be made available on its current sports car, the F-Type. "Perfect proportions, design purity and visual drama – every Jaguar must express these qualities, and none more so than F-Type. In creating the Chequered Flag we've focused on details which enhance F-Type's presence and promise of performance – and in doing so, made a fitting celebration of 70 years of beautiful, fast, Jaguar sports cars." Said Ian Callum, director of design at Jaguar. All will be fitted with the eight-speed automatic transmission. There may be no V8-engined Chequered Flag Edition available but these models are based on the F-Type R and come with a number of desirable and unique options as standard. Notable features include lots of Chequered Flag badging on the seats and panels, a dark brushed aluminum center console finisher, Windsor leather interior with embossed Performance Seats, Ebony Suede cloth headlining, and a steering wheel with red top center marker. Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar 20-inch gloss black wheels are unique to the Chequered Flag Limited Edition models and it will come in three exterior colors, namely Caldera Red, Fuji White or Carpathian Gray. Further refinements to the rest of the range include a standard rear camera and front park aid on all models and Apple Car Play and Android Auto are finally integrated into the Touch Pro infotainment system. V8 models now also offer a more refined ride thanks to refined damper settings. With an F-Type replacement mooted for release around the end of 2019, these may be the last changes on the current model. Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar
