At an event held at the Porsche development center last week, Finance Chief Lutz Meschke gave journalists a few glimpses into what we can expect from the manufacturer in the coming years. Without going into the specifics, Meschke said that an all-electric SUV should be on sale by 2022 at the latest, while electrified versions of the entry-level Boxster and Cayman was also a distinct possibility. With ex-CEO Matthias Müller's commitment to having an electrified version of every model in the VW Group brand by 2023, these revelations were not entirely unexpected. To meet the 2022 deadline, the underpinnings of the upcoming electric SUV could be based on the brand-new Cayenne or even a modified version of the upcoming Macan replacement. Seeing as Porsche shares its SUV platform with Audi, it could also build its electric model with components from the e-tron SUV.
