This Is What The Porsche 918 Successor Could Look Like

The automaker's flagship hybrid hypercar has been out of production since 2015 and won't be getting a successor until at least 2025. Sadly, this means it won't form part of the next-generation hypercar holy trinity. Instead, Porsche wants to wait until battery technology has evolved to make an all-electric supercar that will set new benchmarks in EV performance. To ease the wait, render artist Badih Tabet has envisioned what Porsche's next flagship electric supercar could look like. The design takes clear inspiration from Porsche's first pure EV, the Taycan due to launch in 2020, adopting similar rectangular headlights, full-width rear LED light strip, a lowered fascia, and flared fender arches. But while the Taycan is designed to be a luxurious grand tourer rivalling the Tesla Model S, this version is clearly designed for performance as it inherits the 918 Spyder's aggressive side air intakes and a massive rear wing. In a nice touch, the artist has even shown how these additions enhance the car's airflow. We hope Porsche is taking notice because the resulting render looks fantastic. The artist also rendered the hypothetical Porsche 918 Spyder successor being thrashed around the Nurburgring. This of course is the car's natural habitat since the 918 Spyder held the Nurburgring lap record for four years until it was beaten by the Lamborghini Huracan Performante and, more recently, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. No doubt Porsche will aim to set a new EV lap record with the 918's eventual successor. We still have a long time to wait for it to become a reality, but we're praying that Porsche's next flagship supercar will look as fetching as this render. Porsche Porsche
