Honda Odyssey Recall Probably Couldn' t Come At A Worse Time

If so, this recall announcement very likely affects you. The automaker has just announced it is recalling 107,774 Odyssey minivans from those models years because the power sliding doors may not latch properly. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, this raises the risk of the doors opening while the vehicle is in motion. Probably not exactly the news these Odyssey owners want to hear just before they set off to visit family and friends for the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Honda Honda Honda Honda claims some components in both the left and right power sliding doors' rear latch assembly are prone to sticking. This can, in turn, prevent the front and rear latches from securely connecting. As of this writing, Honda dealers, according to the automaker, have a limited supply of latch repair kits, but this situation will be corrected as more kits are expected to be in stock by late December. In fact, the recall itself isn't due to get underway until December 20. But if you don't want to wait that long for the repair kits to arrive and prefer to get something done as soon as possible, you can still head to your Honda dealership where the power sliding doors will be temporarily disabled. Honda Honda Honda A dealer technician simply has to pull certain fuses and disconnect the main power door button on the dashboard, according to what a Honda spokesperson told Consumer Reports. The doors would be manually operated instead. This temporary fix will be documented on the repair order. Fortunately, Honda says it is unaware of any crashes or injuries related to this issue. Still though, it's a bit unsettling knowing it is technically possible for one or both power sliding doors to open at a potentially dangerous moment.
