Tragedy Strikes During Robb Report' s Car Of The Year Test

Nov. 07, 2018 1:20 PM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Crash / 3 Comments Five people are injured and a Ferrari 812 Superfast has been wrecked. When testing new cars, automotive journalists sometimes have to push the boundaries of what is technically legal on the roads. It's a tough job, but hey, someone's got to do it. Unfortunately, in our eagerness to test the car's performance, accidents can sometimes happen. During this year's Robb Report Car of the year 2018, that's exactly what happened. In an Instagram post by Frederick Bayles, we can see the aftermath of a crash involving a 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast that was part of the Car of the Year test. The post is tagged in Meadowood Napa Valley and the Ferrari can be seen with a Robb Report license plate. Frederick Bayles via Instagram In a related incident, California Highway Patrol also reported a crash involving a 2018 Ford and 2014 Honda. The report identifies the driver of the Ford as 43-year-old Christina Cheever of Encino, and the passengers as 52-year-old Darin Greenblatt of Los Angeles and 41-year-old Ashley Chung of La Crescenta. The 2018 Ford in question was likely a Mustang Bullitt, which also took part in the Robb Report test. The Ford was heading westbound on Highway 128 east of Chiles Pope Valley Road when it crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a 2014 Honda. The three occupants in the Ford were taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center as was at least one of the occupants in the Honda. Ford Ford Highway 128 was shut down following the accident to allow an air ambulance to carry one of the Honda's occupants to Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The woman driving the Honda, 41-year-old Taryn Benson of Sacramento, was reportedly transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. At this point, the status of those involved is unknown, though at least one passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. No fatalities have been reported at this point and we hope none emerge from the situation. Honda
