Nov. 04, 2018 6:45 PM ET by Noah Joseph / 10 Comments Submit the winning name for GM's eBike brand and you could win $10,000. General Motors is committed to producing electric vehicles. But it's not satisfied just making battery-powered four-wheeled automobiles like the Chevy Bolt. It's also planning to make electric bikes. A whole new brand of them, in fact. But it hasn't picked a name yet.
That's where you come in. The industrial giant has launched a crowdsourcing campaign to pick the name for its new line of eBikes, and it's opened it up for suggestions from fans like you. And if you submit the winning name, you could win $10,000. Even if your submission lands in the top ten, you'll still get $1,000. GM GM All you need to do (aside from coming up with a good name) is visit eBikeBrandChallenge.com and submit your idea. The Detroit automaker says it wants "simple, smart and bold concepts capable of bringing the eBike brand to life" and "fun ideas capable of being understood around the world." Even before the name is chosen, GM has revealed the designs for its first two eBikes – one folding and one solid-framed compact model. "As an avid cyclist and urban commuter, I know how great it feels to get where I'm going easily and to show up sweat-free," said Hannah Parish, director of General Motors Urban Mobility Solutions. Chevy Chevrolet Chevrolet "We blended electrification engineering know-how, design talents and automotive-grade testing with great minds from the bike industry to create our eBikes," continued Parish. "Now we want to expand our thinking beyond the company walls and hear from people who like to move and have rad ideas." (That's right, GM used the term "rad.") With the Chevrolet Bolt, GM has emerged as one of the leading manufacturers of electric vehicles in America. Last year is sold over 23,000 Bolts in the US, placing the plug-in hatchback second only to the Tesla Model S in the 2017 sales charts for EVs. Chevrolet Chevrolet
