Will The 2019 Jeep Scrambler Debut At The LA Auto Show

Jeep has been tight-lipped about the much-anticipated Scrambler pickup, but we may only have to wait a few weeks for its world debut. Car Magazine suggests the Wrangler-based pickup will be unveiled at the upcoming LA Auto Show, which opens its doors to the press on November 28. The publication doesn't cite any sources, but all signs point towards the 2019 Jeep Scrambler being unveiled in LA. Cast your mind back to last year, and you may remember Jeep lifted the wraps off the all-new Wrangler at the 2017 LA Auto Show, so it would be fitting for its pickup truck counterpart to debut at the same venue exactly one year later. Reports have also suggested the Scrambler pickup will arrive in showrooms by April 2019 to rival the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and Toyota Tacoma, so the timing seems right. Unsurprisingly, the Scrambler is expected to look a lot like the new Wrangler, as shown in these new render images provided by a Jeep Scrambler forum user depicting the Scrambler in the range-topping Rubicon trim. Essentially, it will look practically identical to the four-door Wrangler Unlimited with a pickup bed at the back. While it may have similar styling, we recently learned the Scrambler will have a folding windshield and removable top. Engine options are also expected to carry over from the Wrangler, including a 3.6-liter V6 developing 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque on tap. Diesel and hybrid variants could also join the line-up. Jeep will build the Scrambler at its factory in Toledo, Ohio, where the Wrangler is also assembled. Hopefully, the Scrambler will be worth the wait since it marks the first time Jeep has entered the pickup truck since the 1990s.
