2019 Chevrolet Blazer Isn' t Exactly Cheap Fully Optioned

Although the reborn 2019 Chevrolet Blazer mid-size crossover SUV will carry a starting price of $29,995, it will become a lot more expensive when fully optioned, as Cars Direct has learned. According to an analysis done by the publication, a 2019 Blazer can top off as high as nearly $49,000. Is it really possible to tack on around $20k in options? Apparently so. You see, that just under $30k starting price is pretty much being used as a way to help advertise the new Blazer, which is nothing new from an automaker. However, the moment option packages are selected is when things starting adding up, fast. For example, while the entry-level Blazer L starts a hair below $30k, the 1LT trim cranks that price up to $33,495, including destination. Steve Fecht for Chevrolet To compare, that's already $1,700 more than two of its closest competitors, the 2018 Nissan Murano S at $31,795 and the 2019 Ford Edge SE at $30,990. Those figures are all the more relevant when you consider the following: the base Blazer is powered by a naturally aspirated four-cylinder rated at 193 hp and 188 lb-ft of torque while its Nissan and Ford competitors both offer more powerful base engines, the Murano's 260 hp V6 and the Edge's 250 hp turbo four. You'll have to pay at least $34,495 to have the Blazer's optional 3.6-liter V6 with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft. Again, it doesn't sound like all that much at first but the numbers add up. Chevrolet Chevrolet And then there's this: you'll have to pony up another $2,700 for your V6 Blazer to have all-wheel drive whereas the Murano and Edge both offer AWD for less ($1,600 and $1,995, respectively) in their base trims. Meanwhile, the sporty Blazer RS begins at $41,795, which is less than the $43,350 Edge ST. However, the latter comes standard with AWD while you'll have to pay at least $44,695 to have it on the Chevy. Blazer optional safety features? Again, not cheap. The Enhanced Convenience and Driver Confidence II Package tacks on $3,575 – and there's still yet another Blazer trim to go. Chevrolet The Blazer Premier begins at $43,895, again more expensive than its competitors. Want that Driver Confidence Two Package with automatic emergency braking? Sure, fork over another $2,165, thus bringing the price up to $46,060 for FWD and $48,960 for AWD. And there you have it, a nearly $50k 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. Check out the top SUVs under $30k.
