$3 4-Million Hypercar Joins Abu Dhabi Police Force

Japan's police force chases down criminals in Nissan GT-Rs, while the Italian police sometimes use Lamborghini Huracans. Dubai, on the other hand, has the fastest police car in the world: a Bugatti Veyron. And now another exotic hypercar has been converted into a high-performance police car, as the W Motors Lykan HyperSport, the first supercar to be designed and produced in the Middle East, has joined Abu Dhabi's police force. It's one of only seven examples ever produced. Surprisingly, it took four years for the Abu Dhabi police department to decide whether to add the Lykan HyperSport to its fleet. It first arrived in the UAE capital in mid-2015 for testing purposes and now sports an Abu Dhabi police livery and emergency lights. We would happily pull over for the Special Forces Lykan HyperSport if we saw it in our rear-view mirror. Good luck trying to outrun it, because the Lykan HyperSport will have no trouble keeping up with some of the fastest supercars in the world. Under the hood is a 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine developed by RUF that produces 740 horsepower. This enables the Lykan HyperSport to hit 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 245 mph, making it easily one of the quickest police cars ever. With each one of W Motors' seven cars costing $3.4 million, it's also one of the rarest and most expensive police cars ever made. While joining Abu Dubai's police force will give it a lot of publicity, the Lykan HyperSport is perhaps best known for featuring in Furious 7, where it jumped through several skyscrapers in one of the franchise's most famously over-the-top stunts. W Motors eventually replaced the Lykan Hypersport with the more powerful Fenyr SuperSport, which uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six that produces 800 hp. 0-62 mph takes just 2.7 seconds before the SuperSport tops out at 245 mph, while production is limited to 100 units.
