After confirming pricing details for the AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe last year, Mercedes has announced US pricing for the entry-level GT 53 4-Door Coupe. Just because it's an entry-level model doesn't mean it's cheap, though – this is a Mercedes-AMG after all. Arriving in US dealerships this spring, the GT 53 variant of the stylish Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe starts at $99,000, plus a $995 destination and delivery charge. That may sound like a lot, but it's considerably cheaper than the GT 63 4-Door Coupe, which starts at a whopping $136,500. It comes in at less than the base price of the AMG GT coupe, which starts at $112,400. Under the hood, the GT 53 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, along with a small electric motor that adds an additional 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque at low engine speeds. The powertrain is mated to a nine-speed transmission and an AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, enabling the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 174 mph. For comparison, the more potent GT 63 Coupe packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that pumps out 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. As standard, the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe will also come with an electronically-deployable rear spoiler, an AMG Ride Control sport suspension and six-piston front brake calipers with a silver painted finish, as well as GPS navigation and a Burmester surround sound system. The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is the third model developed independently by AMG following the SLS AMG and AMG GT, and is the automaker's first four-door sports car that combines the agility and performance of the two-door AMG GT with everyday practicality.
