The GMC Syclone Is Back With 455 HP

It was arguably one of the greatest trucks GMC ever built, packing a turbocharged V6 producing 280 horsepower that enabled it to hit 0-62 in just 4.3 seconds. That's still impressive even today and was quicker than a Ferrari at the time. It's a shame, then, that GMC never built a successor to the iconic performance truck. But after 27 years, the Syclone nameplate is finally being revived thanks to Specialty Vehicle Engineering, the same company behind the crazy 1000-hp YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro. Specialty Vehicle Engineering Specialty Vehicle Engineering Specialty Vehicle Engineering Based on a 2019 GMC Canyon extended cab truck in rear- or all-wheel drive, the tuning package adds increases the truck's 3.6-liter V6 from a stock 308 hp to 455 hp thanks to the addition of a supercharger and a custom stainless-steel cat-back exhaust system. To balance this monumental power, Specialty Vehicle Engineering has also upgraded the brakes with six-piston front calipers instead of four with black Syclone graphics, and the slotted front rotors are upsized from 12.2 inches to 13.6 to provide plenty of stopping power. Handling is enhanced with a Sport Suspension Package that lowers the truck by two inches at the front and five inches at the rear and includes HD Traction Bars, HD Spring Bushings, Higher-Rated Front and Rear Performance Shock Absorbers, and a HD Rear Sway Bar. Other performance upgrades include 20-inch 5 spoke Alloy Wheels with red Syclone graphics on one spoke and performance tires. Gmc GMC Unlike the original Syclone that was only available in black, the new version can be finished in any of the Canyon's factory colors. The exterior has been customized with rocker-panel extensions, body-color grille and rear bumper, and a composite hood insert, while the interior gets a Custom Seat Trim Package featuring red Syclone graphics embroided on the seats, custom floor mats, two numbered key fobs, and a numbered dashboard plaque. Only 100 Limited Edition2019 Syclone sport trucks will be built, each costing $39,995 – that's excluding the cost of the Canyon truck. The Syclone package can be ordered through select GMC dealers.
