Last year, Aston Martin unveiled its all-new DBS Superleggera supercar, and now the limited editions are arriving. Meet the Aston Martin DBS 59. Only 24 examples are being made as special commissions of the 'Q by Aston Martin' personalization service. In fact, these cars were commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge as part of a project to honor the carmaker's historic 1-2 finish in the DBR1 at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. "Each car represents one hour of this iconic victory in Aston Martin's history, in which Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby took the chequered flag ahead of the sister car piloted by Maurice Trintignant and Paul Frere," states the press release. Aston Martin Aston Martin Aston Martin The base car is, of course, the DBS Superleggera, and all come finished in Aston Martin Racing Green with a gloss finish carbon fiber roof, bronze details, unique grille, and 21-inch forged Y-spoke satin wheels. You'll also find an individually numbered roundel painted on the front fenders and bronze foil inlay on the aeroblade, which honors the winning DBR1 race car itself. Even the original seat material used in the DBR1 was studied and recreated here. The interior also features a combination of Obsidian Black and Chestnut Tan leather, bronze paddle shifters, special embroidery, and a '59 Edition' logo on the seatbacks. And get this: each car also comes with replicas of the original helmets, blue racing suits and Carroll Shelby's race gloves. Nice. Under the hood you'll find the same 5.2-liter V12 engine with 715 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Expect a 0-62 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. Official pricing was not announced nor was an expected delivery date for the 24 lucky owners. And we have no doubt that each and every one of these limited edition DBS Superleggeras will get sold.
