Chevy Fixes Camaro' s Ugly Front End For 2020

May. 03, 2019 10:10 AM ET by Jared Rosenholtz / 30 Comments Along with a few other improvements. When we reviewed the 2019 Chevy Camaro SS, we weren't exactly enamored with its blacked out front grille. The black bar looked out of place and so did the bowtie on the crossbar. We clearly weren't the only ones who took issue with the 2019 facelift because Chevy quickly vowed to color in the crossbar and relocate the bowtie. The 2020 Camaro has just been announced and it arrives with design elements from the Camaro Shock Concept shown at SEMA. This means the SS model no longer has a black bar on the grille and the bowtie is now located above the crossbar. It may be a minor change but we think it is a massive improvement. "Customers spoke, and we listened," said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing. "The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Shock's stylized design helped prompt its transition from concept to production."

Chevy has also added a new LT1 trim level, which takes the design and content of the 1LT trim level but adds the 455 horsepower 6.2-liter V8 from the SS trim. This new LT1 trim is now the cheapest V8 Camaro in the lineup, with a starting price of $34,995 (less than the $37,000 1SS trim). Customers can order the Camaro LT1 in coupe or convertible body styles with either a standard six-speed manual or optional ten-speed automatic. Other small changes to the 2020 Camaro lineup include a new Rally Green exterior color, an optional rear spoiler on LS and LT trims, dark-tinted taillamps on LS and LT trims, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels available on LT, LT1, and SS trims, red or orange brake calipers on LT, LT1, and SS trims, red seat belts, red kneepads, Recaro performance seats on the LT trim, alloy pedals, Adrenaline Red and Ceramic White leather interiors, and standard Convenience and Lighting package on the 3LT trim. The 2020 Camaro lineup goes on sale this fall. Chevrolet CarBuzz
