Infiniti Teases Sleek Electric Sedan Concept

Apr. 02, 2019 9:00 PM ET by Martin Bigg Teaser / 4 Comments Infiniti will preview its first ever electric sedan at Auto Shanghai this month. At this year's Detroit Auto Show, Infiniti unveiled the QX Inspiration previewing the company's first ever fully electric SUV. Fast forward a few months later, and the luxury automaker is gearing up to reveal the QX Inspiration's sedan sibling. Infiniti has announced it will reveal a new sports sedan concept called the Inspiration Qs at the Auto Shanghai show this month. Unlike the Q Inspiration Concept shown at last year's Detroit Auto Show, the Qs Inspiration will be fully electric. Infiniti says the concept will offer "a new perspective on the sports sedan format for the coming era of electrification" and preview an upcoming production model.
Infiniti Infiniti The Qs Inspiration will also preview Infiniti's new design language of its future electrified vehicles, inspired by the art and modern architecture of Japan. A teaser image shows the rear of the Qs Inspiration, previewing the electric sedan's minimalist design, sloping roof and slim taillights. Inside the spacious interior, the minimalist cabin "combines striking artistry and craftsmanship" and features two distinct zones: a clutter-free cockpit designed to engage the driver, and a relaxed passenger zone. Infiniti Infiniti "Electrification creates a range of new possibilities for sedans, with new powertrains and vehicle architectures letting us imagine how this type of car could be reinvigorated and adapted to fit the changing needs and tastes of drivers," said Christian Meunier, Chairman of Infiniti. No details have been revealed about the powertrain, but more information will be revealed at Auto Shanghai on April 16. The production version will be part of Infiniti's plan to electrify nearly every new model after 2021. Every new model will be either all-electric or "e-power" hybrids combining an electric battery with a small gasoline engine that charges the battery rather than provide propulsion. Infiniti's first EV will launch in 2021, which will be inspired by the QX Inspiration SUV. Infinity Infinity Infinity
