Here' s Your First Look At The Stunning Mercedes-AMG CLA 35

Apr. 05, 2019 6:00 PM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Teaser / 7 Comments The A35 is about to get even better looking. Entry-level luxury cars are great because they allow people to get in on the bottom floor of a luxury brand at prices comparable to fully-loaded mainstream models. Business for entry-level luxury sales have been so good, automakers have now expanded their performance brand with new entry models like the recently-revealed Mercedes-AMG A 35. The A35 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque mated to its 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. With 0-60 mph taking just 4.7 seconds, it should be a great competitor to the Audi S3. Mercedes-Benz (Facebook) Mercedes-Benz press photo, do not use for advertising purposes Even though the A35 was just revealed, Mercedes-AMG isn't taking a break and has just teased its next model, the CLA 35. The German automaker posted its first teaser on Facebook showing the rear end of the car in an exciting shade of yellow. The teaser includes the caption "Stunning from every angle. The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC. More to come." We aren't sure exactly when the CLA 35 will make its official debut (perhaps in New York later this month) but when it does arrive, we expect it to feature identical power and performance figures as the A35. When it eventually goes on sale, we expect the CLA35 to cost a bit more than its A 35 counterpart because Mercedes typically sells its four-door-coupe models at a premium. press photo, do not use for advertising purposes Mercedes-Benz The A35 and CLA 35 will likely be followed up with even more hardcore 45 AMG variants producing well over 400 hp, which should give the Audi RS3 and BMW M2 Competition a run for their money. In this day and age when crossover and SUV sales are dominant, we are surprised to see Mercedes offer not one, but two separate sub-compact sedans. Of course, the A and CLA-Class eventually will be joined by a new GLA SUV and an upcoming mini-G-Class model called the GLB, both of which will ride on the same platform with a higher ride height.
