These C8 Corvette Renderings Are The Best You' ll Ever See

Mar. 17, 2019 7:35 PM ET by Jay Traugott / 44 Comments All that's left is the real deal. We've seen the spy shots, the spy videos, and past renderings of the upcoming mid-engined C8 Chevrolet Corvette, so there's no big mystery regarding its general shape and some other non-specific details. Various rendering artists have created images of what the production-spec C8 could look like based on those spy shots, but we've found a couple more that are the best to date. Thanks to rendering artist 'Chazcron', via MidEngineCorvetteForum.com, we have for you this pair of new images, both of which were created with input from the latest spy shots and a few other inside sources. And we even like the chosen color, sort of a metallic orange. A few additional observations: note the sculpted hood. If you look closely enough at the camouflaged spy shots, you'll notice the hood's creases. The overall front-end styling appears to be pretty spot-on as well. MidEngineCorvetteForum Again, thank all of the past spy shots for making it easier for Chazcron. Even the side mirrors look exactly the same as those in the camo-covered spy images. Venturing further towards the rear, it's much the same as before, only without the camo. The side air vents, rear spoiler, and the sculpting over the rear wheels also look very familiar by this point. What was less clear, however, is how the C8 will look from behind. Fortunately, Chazcron has done his best to sort this out. Again, spy shots played a role here, but so did a reportedly smuggled image straight from the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This image, also pictured above, supposedly shows a completed rear-end frame. Combined with spy shots, it's now possible to have a very good idea regarding this part of the C8's design. CarBuzz While the design has been locked down for at least a year, if not more, the C8 is now plagued by technical and mechanical issues, hence its six-month delay. As we recently reported, 900-1,000 hp C8 prototypes have been bending their own frames because the rumored twin-turbo V8 is simply too powerful for the aluminum spaceframe to handle. There have also been electrical issues plaguing the car. Originally set to be revealed at Detroit a couple of months ago, the C8 is now rumored to be shown for the first time later this summer. In the meantime, let us know your opinions on these latest renderings. Chevrolet Chevrolet
