There' s Already An Issue With The 2021 Chevy Equinox

Late last week, Chevrolet announced that the refreshed 2021 Traverse three-row crossover will not be a 2021 model after all. Instead, it'll be a 2022 model, a delayed arrival because of the coronavirus pandemic. With factories shut down, production cannot get underway in time. And it turns out there's another popular crossover refresh from the Bow Tie brand that's being pushed back as well. The 2021 Chevy Equinox is officially delayed until 2022. "The timing for launch of the refreshed Chevrolet Equinox has been revised. It will now launch in calendar year 2021 as a 2022 model. We will share more details as we get closer to launch," the automaker said in a statement. The Traverse and Equinox are not the only delays. Updates for the Chevy Silverado and Camaro were also planned for the 2021 model year and they've been pushed back as well. There's simply nothing the automaker can do about it but to accept the delays. Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet The list of updates for the 2021 Equinox, first revealed in February at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show, includes fresh exterior styling more in line with the brand's aggressive styling language such as new front and rear fascias, a new grille and, for higher trims, new 19-inch machine-faced wheels. A new RS trim inspired by the popular Blazer RS, is also on the list. The interior will also be upgraded though the majority of these improvements are reserved for higher trims once again. For example, the Premier will get French stitching on the upholstery and a high-gloss black console finish. The RS has a unique shift knob, black leather upholstery, and red contrast stitching on the seats, armrests, and steering wheel. Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet Despite these aesthetic changes, the 2022 Equinox will come powered by the same engine lineup, consisting of a base 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed automatic. A 2.0-liter turbo-four with 252 hp and 260 lb-ft with a nine-speed automatic will remain optional. Buyers can also opt for all-wheel-drive. A host of safety technology features such as lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera are all standard. Pricing for all trim levels has not yet been announced. Those who were planning to buy the updated Equinox will simply have to wait a bit longer.
