LEAKED Here' s The New BMW 5 Series Before You Were Supposed to See It

BMW is usually the ultimate driving machine but this week, the German automaker is the ultimate leak machine. This comes after leaked photos emerged of the next-generation 2 Series Coupe and the all-electric iX3. Now, after numerous spy shots have shown a facelifted BMW 5 Series, leaked images have emerged ahead of the official reveal. Two images show the facelifted car, which is known internally as the 5 Series LCI. The changes aren't major but the car looks a lot more in line with the smaller 3 Series. Starting with the redesigned kidney grilles, BMW has been a lot more restrained compared to what it did with the 7 Series and upcoming 4 Series Coupe. The headlight design is now sleeker, fitting well with the revised front fascia. BMW BMW At the rear, the taillights have been altered as well, giving the 5 Series a more modern appearance. These particular images show the car wearing the M Sport package, which adds more aggressive front and rear fascias and larger wheels. The wheel pattern itself also appears to be a new design with an intricate Y-spoke pattern. As evidenced by the charger port door on the front left fender, this picture shows the hybrid BMW 530e Plug-In Hybrid. As with the smaller 330e, we expect the plug-in version of the 5 Series to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 181 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz The engine will, of course, be supplemented by an electric motor producing 107 hp and 77 lb-ft of torque. Combined with the gas engine, the drivetrain should deliver the same output as the 330e: 288 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. We also expect the 530e to include XtraBoost, which provides a 40 hp increase in power to the full 288 hp for up to 10 seconds. The 530e is tipped to be unveiled alongside other variants like the 530i and M540i at the end of May. CarBuzz CarBuzz
