Karma Automotive blew us away at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show by revealing the SC2, an all-electric supercar concept with eye-popping styling. The performance stats were mind-boggling as well, with Karma touting 1,100 horsepower and 10,500 lb-ft of torque. GM's revived Hummer pickup truck claims similarly absurd torque figures, at 11,500 lb-ft but how these herculean numbers are officially measured remains to be seen. We thought there was a low probability of the Karma SC2 ever reaching production but earlier this month, Karma announced that is was working on a new EV platform that could be used in a variety of applications. One such application is a supercar, meaning there is now a good chance we could see the SC2 out on the road. And sooner than you might expect. Karma Karma Karma Karma Automotive has announced that the initial development stage of its Karma High-Performance E-Flex Platform has been completed. This means that those astonishing output figures and estimated performance numbers are more than just theoretical. As a reminder, Karma is targeting a 0-60 mph time of less than 1.9 seconds and with a new Silicon Carbide (SiC) high-density inverter and floor-mounted battery, a driving range of 400 miles on a charge. "Our latest E-Flex platform is well-suited for supercar configurations and is designed to be outfitted to high-performance vehicles such as Karma's SC2 concept car," said Kevin Zhang, Chief Technology Officer of Karma Automotive.
