The Newest Special-Edition Dodge Challenger Is Finally Here

Apr. 14, 2020 10:45 AM ET by Aaron Brzozowski Special Editions / 8 Comments Just 1,960 will be built, so you'd better move quickly. Fiat Chrysler might not be producing any new cars in the US at the present, due to the country's continued efforts to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, but there's good news for Mopar fans all the same: the Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary has officially started landing at US dealerships, according to reports. The 50th Anniversary models, just the latest in a long line of special-edition FCA muscle cars this generation, commemorate five decades of Dodge Challenger, since the first-generation model was born for the 1970 model year. With loads of slick, custom aesthetic touches, the new 50th Anniversary models are among the coolest Challengers offered this generation, even if they're not the most potent.
FCA FCA FCA FCA The 50th Anniversary Dodge Challenger is available in four trims - GT, R/T Shaker, Scat Pack Shaker, and Scat Pack Widebody Shaker - and seven colors: Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, Gold Rush, and Go Mango. Just 70 of each color and trim combo will be produced, for a total of 1,960 cars. Those holding their breath for a 50th Anniversary Edition SRT Hellcat - or better still, a Hellcat Redeye - should probably just go ahead and inhale; unfortunately, no such models are in the works.

All four 50th Anniversary Challengers are loaded with special commemorative branding, from the seat back embroidery to the grille and spoiler badges. Each model gets a matte black hood and roof, and all but the GT get a "shaker" hood, with an aggressive snout that pokes up through the panel. This actually marks the first time a shaker hood has made its way to the Challenger Widebody. Pricing for the 50th Anniversary Dodge Challenger package ranges from $4,995 to $5,995 on top of the base MSRP, depending on the trim level, although Dodge's "Power Dollars" incentives do apply.
