This 1990 Lamborghini Countach' s Ultra-Low Mileage Is Hard To Believe

Apr. 04, 2020 7:55 AM ET by Jay Traugott Supercars / 10 Comments Will its next owner actually drive it? The Lamborghini Countach is one of the most famous supercars of all time. During its 16-year production run, just under 2,000 examples were built. Lamborghini wasn't owned by the Volkswagen Group at the time, hence the shockingly low build number. Despite that, the Countach rightly gained legendary status alongside other 1980s era icons, specifically the Ferrari Testarossa. Young gearheads who had posters of these two Italian dream machines on their bedroom walls are now grown up with the money to make those dreams of ownership come true. This 1990 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary edition is up for sale at the Lamborghini Montreal dealership for a sticker price of just under $600,000. Lamborghini Montreal Lamborghini Montreal Lamborghini Montreal Yes, that is just about Lamborghini Aventador SVJ money, but there's another huge factor to consider: this Countach has just 84 miles on its clock. That's not a typo. In other words, it's been sitting still for 30 years and that in of itself is a crime. This Countach is very much a US-spec model due to its extended front bumper, a result of heightened US vehicle safety laws compared to those in Europe. Both the all-black exterior and cream-colored leather interior are completely spotless. Power comes from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V12 with a total of 449 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. Quick comparison: today's "base" Aventador S offers 730 hp and 507 lb-ft. But the Countach is rear-wheel-drive and has a five-speed manual. The Aventador is, of course, AWD with a single-speed seven-speed automatic. Both figures remain impressive today. Also, the 25th Anniversary Edition was designed by the one and only Horacio Pagani. Pagani was working for Lamborghini at the time. He didn't open his own company until 1992. It's quite clear this low mileage Countach has spent its entire life going from one collector's garage to the next and, chances are, this will remain the tradition with its next owner. Then again, that individual may opt to live out their childhood dreams and go for a cruise once in a while.
