One-Of-A-Kind 700-HP Chevrolet Colorado Up For Sale

Apr. 23, 2020 9:31 AM ET by Roger Biermann Trucks / 4 Comments A heavily reworked Cadillac engine makes for the midsize truck of our dreams. SEMA creations are incredible - showcasing the finest the aftermarket has to offer in the form of body kits, engine swaps, power enhancements, and custom setups that appeal to all walks of life. Manufacturers get involved too, with the show being the place where Chevrolet has unveiled numerous COPO Camaros and where last year, Toyota unveiled no fewer than six incredible Supra builds. But one of the best sights to see at SEMA is the unlikely builds, the ones that challenge conventions and give us the weird and wonderful mashups of our wildest dreams. Want a Chevrolet Colorado with more than 700 horsepower on tap? Well you can have it, as was showcased at SEMA 2015 by Mallett Performance Cars, a tuning shop from North Carolina. Now, the stunning muscle-truck is up for sale. Chevrolet Performance/Matt Best Chevrolet Performance/Matt Best Chevrolet Performance/Matt Best Chevrolet Performance/Matt Best The core of the insane Colorado comes from a heart transplant from within the GM stable - a 3.6-liter V6 engine taken from a Cadillac ATS-V with an upgraded block, forged crank, titanium con rods, forged pistons, and the throttle body from a C7 Corvette LT1 among numerous other upgrades. But instead of relying on the twin-turbochargers for boost, Mallett gave the donor engine a Magnuson 1.9-liter supercharger, dialing power all the way up to 700 hp at the rear wheels. Many elements were custom-made, too, such as the air intake box and a high-flow dual exhaust. The engine was built with high performance in mind, generating peak power when running 109 race fuel. Mallett Performance Cars Mallett Performance Cars The build wouldn't be complete without a custom suspension setup, comprising Penske coilovers, custom drop spindles, and custom-made lower control arms. The suspension setup gives the Colorado a mean stance and lowers the center of gravity substantially while bringing it all to a halt are a set of Brembo brakes - six-piston up front and four-piston rear - housed within staggered 19- and 20-inch Forgeline wheels wearing BF Goodrich G-Force Rival tires. The price of the truck hasn't been made public, but we suspect it won't come cheap. Fortunately, it's a low-mileage build, with "600 easy miles on it" as it was purely used for car shows. Whoever ends up fortunate enough to be the truck's new owner, we certainly hope they drive it a little more often.
