Now China Is Copying The Rolls-Royce Cullinan

The term "copyright infringement" doesn't appear to apply to China's car industry. Copycat versions of established western models are extremely common, spawning fake versions of the Range Rover Evoque, Toyota Land Cruiser, and more recently the Cadillac CT6, to name a few examples. And now we have China's take on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. It's called the Hongqi E115, and its design similarities to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan are no coincidence - its design was penned by none other than former Rolls-Royce designer Gilles Taylor. As shown in spy photos shared by CarNewsChina, the production version looks nearly identical to the concept of the same name that was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show last year. https://www.facebook.com/carnewschina/posts/3245170958848910 Hongqi Hongqi Hongqi At the front, the Hongqi E115 features a massive Rolls-Royce-style grille with vertical chrome bars. The grille dominates the front and is even larger than the Cullinan's. Combined with slimmer LED headlights and a full-width LED light strip adorning the rear, China's luxury SUV arguably looks even better and more modern than the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which has a more conservative design matching the design language of the Phantom. With a 128-inch wheelbase and 203-inch length, the Hongqi E115 is a very large SUV but slightly shorter than the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Inside, the cabin will be loaded with luxury and technology, including a touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital dashboard, and Alcantara applied to the center console and seats. Hongqi Hongqi Hongqi Hongqi Whereas the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is powered by a 6.8-liter twin-turbo V12 generating 563 horsepower, its Chinese equivalent has an electric powertrain featuring two motors, with one on the front axle and the other on the rear for an all-wheel-drive setup. Combined, this setup produces 510 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque enabling the luxury SUV to accelerate to 62 mph from standstill in four seconds, while a 92.4 kWh lithium-ion battery provides up to 372 miles of range on a single charge.
