2021 Porsche Panamera Coming With Styling From New 911

Jun. 03, 2020 7:21 AM ET by Martin Bigg Spy Shots / 1 Comment The luxury sports sedan is looking slick in new spy shots. We've known for a long time now that Porsche is preparing to give the Panamera a facelift to freshen up the luxury sedan three years after the current-generation version went on sale. Now, it looks like the updated Porsche Panamera's debut is just around the corner as a new prototype has been spied with less camouflage, revealing some subtle styling changes.
At the front, the updated Porsche Panamera sports a redesigned front bumper with some minor changes mimicking the new 992-generation Porsche 911. Noticeably, there's still some camouflage applied between the rear lights, suggesting the LED stripe connecting the rear lights will be wider on the Panamera facelift. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz Elsewhere, our sources suggest the taillight graphics will change to resemble the look of the new Cayenne. More camouflage can be seen between the exhaust pipes hiding a diffuser between the quad exhaust pipes. Our spies didn't manage to get a look inside the interior, but previous spy photos have already shown the upcoming Panamera facelift's cabin will look virtually identical to its predecessor, with the exception of a new redesigned steering wheel lifted from the new 911. The infotainment system could also be updated. While the visual changes will be subtle, the refreshed Panamera will gain a new mild-hybrid powertrain for the first time. CarBuzz CarBuzz Like the current model, power will be provided by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, but these powertrains will gain the same 48-volt mild hybrid system and electric compressor electrical architecture as the 2020 Audi S6 and S7. Rumors have also suggested Porsche is preparing a new hardcore, track-focused Panamera known as the "Lion" with 820 hp that will attempt a new four-door lap record at the Nurburgring. We're keeping our fingers crossed it will enter production and become the new range-topping Panamera. Judging from these new spy shots, the new Porsche Panamera facelift could debut this summer, but we'll have to wait for official confirmation from Porsche. CarBuzz CarBuzz
