With up to 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque from its 6.2-liter V8, some real-world tests have yielded a 0-62 mph sprint time of only 2.7 seconds, which is better than what Chevrolet claims for the mid-engined coupe. But the C8 doesn't run out of puff after getting off the line so effectively. A new video reveals how effective the C8 is over the quarter-mile, too, when a bone stock version completed the run in under 11 seconds, running on drag radials. That is a phenomenal time without any modifications. The first run gets underway at around the three-minute mark in the video, although the Vette gets off the line so quickly that the camera is dislodged from its position. Attempt number two starts at 3'12", and here the Corvette runs a 10.92 time. Consider that the Lamborghini Aventador ran a 10.4-second quarter-mile - and that you could buy more than six C8s for the same price as the Italian beast - and it puts into perspective the bang-for-buck appeal of the Corvette. Later, at around the 6'20" mark following a second run, the C8 impressively backs up its first run with a 10.95 blast at a speed of 124 mph. Later, the Chev sneaks out a bracket race win, proving that it's not only extremely quick but tough enough to easily repeat these kinds of numbers. It's clear that the positioning of the engine in the latest C8 has done wonders for traction off the line, making up for the power deficit to other dragsters. As far as stock cars go with this kind of power, the Corvette is a demonstration in making the absolute best of what you've got.
