New Hardcore Ferrari 812 GTO Spied On Track

Jun. 17, 2020 6:36 AM ET by Martin Bigg Supercars / 6 Comments Ferrari has been caught testing a mysterious 812 Superfast prototype. After revealing as many as five new models last year, this year will be a comparatively quiet year for Ferrari in terms of new model launches. Later this year, Ferrari will reveal two new models as part of its plan to launch 15 new models by 2022. Last month video footage emerged showing Ferrari testing a camouflaged prototype of a new hybrid supercar that will slot below the SF90 Stradale. Now, Ferrari has been caught testing a new hardcore version of the 812 Superfast. Potentially, this could be the second mystery model Ferrari is planning to unveil later this year. Varryx / YouTube Varryx / YouTube Varryx / YouTube Video footage shows the hardcore Ferrari 812 Superfast prototype being put through its paces at Ferrari's private Fiorano test track in Italy. The mysterious prototype is covered in camouflage, but we can see it has a larger rear diffuser than the standard 812 Superfast as part of an aggressive body kit. The exhaust note also has a lower pitch than the regular 812 Superfast's spine-tingling soundtrack. Helpfully, the uploader has provided footage of the original 812 Superfast being hammered around the same test track for comparison. An official name hasn't been confirmed, but rumors claim the hardcore Ferrari 812 Superfast will revive the GTO moniker. Varryx / YouTube Varryx / YouTube The current Ferrari 812 Superfast is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 that generates 789 horsepower and 529 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This setup enables the 812 Superfast to sprint from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Rumors suggest the Ferrari 812's naturally aspirated V12 will get a power increase up to 850 hp, while the redline will reportedly increase from 8,500 rpm to over 9,000 rpm. Chances are the hardcore Ferrari 812 Superfast will be produced in limited numbers, too. Essentially, this will be the 812 Superfast's equivalent to the hardcore Ferrari F12tdf, which was limited to 799 units. Ferrari Ferrari
