New Toyota Venza Gets The GR Treatment

Jun. 17, 2020 4:41 PM ET by Sebastian Cenizo Design / 13 Comments Sort of. Crossovers like the Toyota Venza aren't usually the cars that are first in line for aggressive styling cues and upgrades. Yet, while the 2021 Venza has only recently been released, that hasn't stopped tuners from updating its styling for a sportier, more aggressive look. However, it's not just aftermarket tuners and garages that are interested in the crossover that sits in between the RAV4 and Highlander. In Japan, where the model is known as the Harrier, Toyota's Gazoo Racing skunkworks department has taken a long, hard look at the family car and found a way to make it look much racier than any soft-roader has a right to be.
Toyota GR Toyota GR Toyota GR Toyota GR The upgrades are more than just cosmetic too, with the images revealing upgraded anti-roll bars at the front and at the rear of the crossover. Whether this kind of thing actually matters on this sort of vehicle is for you to decide, but just look at the thing! The GR Harrier gets a totally new front fascia with aggressive grilles and a big bumper extension. This last bit is complemented by bulky side-skirts and a fake diffuser at the rear, where a quad-exit exhaust system is housed. Some new 20-inch wheels in a turbine design are included too, with these wrapped in some Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires. Even a carbon fiber license plate holder is available. This all may be a bit of overkill, but Gazoo Racing is all about making sure you know the brand has had a hand in modifying the vehicle, and subtlety goes out the window. Overall, we like the looks of this GR Venza, and with various styling packages available for numerous other non-performance vehicles, we wouldn't be surprised if these add-ons become fairly popular.
