Another Bugatti-Rivalling 3 000-HP Hypercar Is Coming From Greece

Jun. 19, 2020 12:15 PM ET by Sebastian Cenizo Teaser / 7 Comments Meet the Apeiron. Niche supercar manufacturers have been popping up all over the world for some time now. The Lykan Hypersport, the Devel Sixteen, and more recently Spyros Panopoulos Automotive's Chaos are among the most extreme hypercars ever - cars that challenge the abilities of established rulers like the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. That last company, SPA, isn't content with just one upcoming monstrosity, however, and has now revealed that a second supercar from the Greek company is in the works. Its name? The Apeiron. Its goal? A top speed north of 500 kph or 310 mph. That's more than the record-breaking Chiron's achievement of 304.77 mph. Spyros Panopoulos Automotive Spyros Panopoulos Automotive Not much is known about the new vehicle, but the company has provided two teaser pics to whet our appetite. Given the extreme intricacy of the details on the Chaos, we expect that the Apeiron won't be a simple-looking car. All we know from the photos is that the new model will have big and very aggressive LED headlights and possibly a fin over the rear third of the car, much like the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. Fortunately, the Apeiron does have a few details for us to work with. One notable detail is that the engine found in the chaos, with its almost-3,000 horsepower output, will do duty in the new model too. Bugatti Koenigsegg Pagani SPA also says that the new car will be more intricate in terms of design and will supposedly be the first car to have a moving mass, or variable surface panels. The Pagani Huayra comes to mind for its active flaps on each corner of the car, but this sounds like something even more extreme. Presumably, there will be a low-drag configuration for top-end runs and also a track configuration that would create more downforce. How this will all work remains to be seen, but SPA is aiming to complete development before the 2021 Geneva Motor Show, where the new hypercar will hopefully be presented. Excited yet? We are.
