Honda CR-V Black Edition Adds Some Attitude

The ever-popular Honda CR-V has recently gone through a midlife refresh here in the USA and is still one of our favorite compact crossovers, but now word comes from Japan that this humble little SUV will be offered with the Black Edition package that's currently only available on higher models such as the Honda Pilot. The CR-V is the company's best-seller in the USA and goes up against the likes of the Toyota RAV4. A minor facelift announced in Japan includes directional lights, as well as a standard heated steering wheel and reverse mirror linkage, and standard heated seats are now also included on top-tier trims. Honda Honda This is all good and well, but we won't be seeing those changes stateside. What interests us is the Black Edition package which should make its way to our shores. Newly appointed Honda CEO of North America Dave Gardner is of the opinion that Honda's SUV cars are considered less tough than for instance Toyota cars, and could do with a bit of manning up. That's exactly where the Black Edition package comes into play. While it might only be an appearance package, it adds some much-needed attitude to the otherwise tame CR-V design. Honda Honda Honda So what does this package add? According to Honda Japan, the CR-V will get a set of black-painted 18-inch aluminum wheels. This is accompanied by some Black Edition exterior trim such as body-colored door handles and exterior mirrors, as well as distinctive black-chrome accents on the front grille bar, window surrounds, and rear bumper. Inside, the special edition car gets black leather seats with embossed Black Edition branding, a leather steering wheel, as well as red ambient LED interior lighting which gives off a total Batman feel. We already love the CR-V, but this package would add some much-needed attitude. Honda Honda Honda Honda
