This Is The Future Of The Ford F-150 Raptor

May. 30, 2020 6:40 AM ET by Sebastian Cenizo Design / 9 Comments Dinosaurs may be extinct but this design keeps the Raptor alive. The Ford F-150 Raptor is arguably the benchmark in the high-performance off-road market. Powered by the Ford GT supercar's 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that, in this application, currently produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Along with a host of off-road reinforcements including Fox long-travel shock absorbers, the Raptor is the iconic high-speed trail monster. Still, no vehicle is perfect, and some have criticized the styling of the current generation. Fortunately, a new F-150 and F-150 Raptor are coming, with smoother styling cues. But what if things went in the other direction? Would a more aggressive approach not fit better with the truck's character? A production designer named Mo Aoun has released his interpretation of the F-150 of the future, and its styling is wicked. Mo Aoun Mo Aoun Ford Ford As depicted below, Mo takes us through some of the steps leading to his vision of an even more aggressive F-150 raptor, and although the render is something different, it still stays true to the styling cues displayed by the current design language's interpretation of a Raptor. The blocky "FORD" front grille is there, the contrasting wheel arch flares are present, and the dual-exit exhaust system hasn't been messed with. On the front fenders, however, the vent-like accents above the front wheels have been redesigned and repositioned, with these now lower and larger. You also get the stepped front window frames, and the overall look is both unique and familiar. Mo Aoun Mo Aoun Since this is a render, no dimensions are made mention of, but based on the pictures and the suggestion that a dirt bike would fit in the load bin with ease - thanks in part to a specially designed tailgate - this rendition appears to be longer and wider than the current model. A lot of detail has gone into this design, with resilient plastics around high-traffic areas, a louvered hood, and massive all-terrain tires. Another nice detail is the door handle on each port, which is almost flush with the panel. It may just be a flight of fancy, but we wouldn't complain if this were the next Raptor. Would you?
