Kia Stinger GT Indigo Edition Comes With Drift Mode
Jun. 19, 2020 9:21 AM ET by Sebastian Cenizo Reveal / 5 Comments But you can only have it one color. The Kia Stinger GT is arguably one of the best-looking sedans on the market and a testament to the style and substance of modern Korean offerings. We know that the next generation will get more power to go along with its aggressive new looks, and we also expect it to be quite a lot of fun in the corners since it's been spied testing on track. But what if you want that fun now? Well, Kia has just quietly launched a special edition of the current Stinger, and it's a special model that will be limited to 500 units, each of which will be equipped with - wait for it - a drift mode. Could this actually be the Atlantica model we reported on earlier with a new name? Kia Kia The special edition is loosely based on the regular GT AWD but with unique aesthetic changes both inside and out. Only one color is available, and it's called Deep Chroma Blue, a stunningly rich hue that changes in the light thanks to its highly metallic finish. Those 19-inch wheels are also new for the US market, even if the Indigo Edition has been available elsewhere for some time. Inside, the new interior has been completely overhauled with brown leather upholstery and brown carpeting. The steering wheel, the dash, the door panels, the seats, the floor mats, and even the center console are wrapped brown. The Chamude headliner from the GTS special edition is carried over too. Kia Kia Other add-ons include a sunroof with a power shade, and eight-inch infotainment display with navigation, wireless charging, and a Harman Kardon 15-speaker sound system - all features usually found on pricier GT1 or GT2 trims. But how about performance? Well, the 3.3-liter V6 engine is unchanged, as is the eight-speed automatic, but the transmission has been tweaked to be quicker and smoother, and it also features the D-AWD system first seen on the Stinger GTS, which can send all power to just the rear wheels. An LSD is complemented by active torque vectoring too, so it'll handle wonderfully. 500 units are slated for worldwide distribution, with 55 of them coming stateside. If you want one, pricing starts at $45,000, but discounts are rumored to be easy to find. Kia Kia Kia Join The Discussion
