Watch The Audi Q5 Sportback Come To Life

Jun. 21, 2020 7:10 PM ET by Michael Butler Video / 8 Comments Audi's X4 fighter is coming. Audi recently revealed that rumors of a sportback version of its popular Q5 SUV were completely true, and official spy shots have revealed a car that is set to continue the coupe crossover craze so popular across the world these days. The Q5 Sportback will be made available later this year and will take the fight directly to the Mercedes GLC Coupe and BMW X4. The new sportback will be based on the upcoming Q5 facelift which in turn borrows some of its styling from the A4 facelift that includes a narrower grille, redesigned LED headlights, and taillights, as well as some other minor design tweaks. SRK Designs has posted a video in which we gain some insight into how Audi has gone from a Q5 SUV to a slinky sportback. SRK Designs SRK Designs SRK Designs It is clear to see that the car has a sloping roofline that is seriously pronounced when compared to the ordinary car. The ride height is also likely to drop, making it even more impractical. Over and above the sloped roofline, the Q5 Sportback will also feature additional changes to the rear-end to complement the overall design. We don't expect the styling changes to be too dramatic, but they'll be enough to keep the Q5 fresh enough to lure in new buyers; after all, the Q5 is Audi's best-selling crossover. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz While we might have a good idea of what the exterior design of the Q5 Sportback will look like, there are still no photos showing off the interior, but we suspect that the new car will feature a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen, as well as Audi's upgraded MMI touch software as part of the Q5 facelift package. Technical details are also scarce, but we believe that the new Q5 Sportback will make use of the current model's engine options which include the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and the 367 hp hybrid powertrain. There has been no word on an exact launch date, but we should see the Q5 Sportback making an appearance by the end of the year, or early 2021. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz
