Cadillac Cadillac Cadillac The V8-powered Escalade has already been rated with subpar fuel economy of 16 mpg combined with 4WD or 17 mpg combined with RWD. Fuel economy information for the diesel engine has yet to be released but a Chevrolet Silverado with this same engine is able to achieve a combined rating of up to 27 mpg. We expect the more aerodynamic Escalade to be even more efficient, making the diesel option the go-to for owners who want the highest fuel economy. In our opinion, the diesel engine will be worth the wait. Cadillac Source Credits: GM Authority
Cadillac Escalade' s Coolest Feature Will Be Worth The Wait
Jun. 02, 2020 1:36 PM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Engine / 3 Comments Here's when you can expect it. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade and 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV will boast a ton of clever new features, many of which should help Cadillac steal sales away from other luxury brands. Among these new features, the availability of a diesel engine is one of the most unique. Cadillac has never offered a diesel engine in the Escalade before and more impressively, it will be available as a no-cost option. But there's a slight catch. Early reports said that the diesel-powered version of the Escalade and its corporate siblings, the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon, would be delayed. A new report from GM Authority now confirms (roughly) how long Escalade buyers will have to wait to order one with a diesel engine. Cadillac Cadillac Cadillac The report claims the diesel-powered Escalade will enter production "roughly 12 weeks after Start of Regular Production (SORP)." With the Escalade set to enter production at GM's Arlington, Texas facility in June, the diesel model should start to be assembled around August to September. The diesel-powered Escalade will use a 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six producing 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque going out through a 10-speed automatic. For reference, the Escalade's other engine option, a 6.2-liter gasoline V8, produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. While less powerful than the V8, the Duramax diesel should offer considerable gains in fuel economy.Cadillac Cadillac Cadillac The V8-powered Escalade has already been rated with subpar fuel economy of 16 mpg combined with 4WD or 17 mpg combined with RWD.
