Mystery Ford Model Could Use The Name ' Outfitters'

In an effort to ensure future nameplates are protected by law, automakers typically file for numerous trademarks. Ford has recently trademarked names such as G.O.A.T (Great Of All Time), Wolftrack, and Adrenaline among others and none of them have been used on a production car as of yet. It is suspicious then that Ford Authority has spotted a new trademark from the Blue Oval with yet another strange name. The Ford Motor Company has trademarked the name "Outfitters" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). An outfitter is a company or person that sells specialized clothes and in the US, they are typically associated with outdoor leisure activities. So what will Ford do with the name? CarBuzz CarBuzz Ford There's a good chance the name may never appear on a production model. Alternatively, the "Outfitters" name could imply that Ford is planning something related to clothing but the Goods and Services category in the patent filing specifies "Motor Vehicles, namely, automobiles, pick-up trucks, electric vehicles, off-road vehicles, and their structural parts." Most likely then, the Outfitters name could be applied to an upcoming vehicle, likely one with an outdoorsy focus. The upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco seems like an obvious candidate for an Outfitters trim level. This name would also go nicely on the upcoming Bronco Sport. Outside of the realm of clothing, truck outfitters are known for taking heavy-duty models and installing work-related additions such as new beds. Perhaps Ford could even be working on a Medium Duty competitor to Chevrolet's Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD models. This is all speculation for now, so we'll have to wait and see if the "Outfitters" name (or any of Ford's other trademarks) appear on a production vehicle.
