FREE Toyota Supra Would Be The Ultimate Restoration Project

Jun. 03, 2020 7:21 PM ET by Jay Traugott For Sale / 11 Comments Priced at $0, the owner can't even give it away. There's now one less 2020 Toyota GR Supra in the world, as clearly evidenced by the toasted remains you're looking at. Unfortunately, we don't know the circumstances that led to the sports coupe catching fire, leaving the body shell only partially intact. The engine still exists too, but it's also nothing but a pile of burned metal. The interior? Do you even have to ask? But for some reason, this cooked Supra is currently up for sale on auto salvage auction site Copart. At present, it's listed at $0 but the site requires a $60 minimum bid increment. Any takers? Hauling it away would probably cost more than that. And yes, it's been deemed "non-repairable." Copart Copart Copart Without question, this is the cheapest 2020 Supra in America right now - assuming vehicle functionality doesn't count. For what it's worth, the listing claims the car's original price tag is estimated at $61,721. But what caused the blaze? The first possibility is that it was involved in a serious accident. The fuel tank is located on the right rear side and the surrounding exterior metal is still intact, so it doesn't appear the tank ignited though it could have been an engine-related fire. We also checked the Supra's recall history in the US and despite three having been issued for a fairly limited number of units each time, none involved the engine but rather for the seatbelt, backup camera, and the possibility of failing headlights, in that order. Copart Copart Copart It's also entirely possible someone deliberately set fire to the car but this isn't noted in the listing; it's just speculation on our part. So, what would someone potentially do with a Supra - or any vehicle - in this state? Some of the sheetmetal could potentially be repurposed but this sorry-looking Supra will eventually end up in the crusher. Copart Copart Copart Copart Source Credits: Copart
