Will The V8-Powered Ford Ranger Raptor Ever Happen

May. 20, 2020 8:51 PM ET by Deiondre van der Merwe Engine / 5 Comments If it does, you'll have to wait a while. In an effort to maintain a strong financial standing, one of the measures taken by Ford includes the suspension of plans for the Ranger Raptor powered by a V8 engine, at least for now. A couple of months ago, we spoke about the possibility of Ford introducing a V8-powered Ford Ranger Raptor that would likely steal the hearts of truck lovers all over the country. The Ford Ranger has enjoyed popularity in the US for some time, so the prospect of a fire-breathing version is music to the ears of many. Unfortunately, Ford has changed its tune and decided to put the entire plan on hold indefinitely according to Which Car.
Ford Ford The 5.0-liter V8 was set to produce 710 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, which means that 260 more horses than the F-150 Raptor were supposed to be packed into a smaller body. Essentially, that means a lot of fun. The Ranger currently comes with one engine, a 2.3-liter turbo acquired from the Ford Mustang. Rumors had been swirling around for a while before news broke about the project in January. Still, Ford never officially signed off on it. The chances of that actually happening in the near future are now as slim as ever. Ford Ford This project has been clouded by uncertainty since its inception, mainly due to the amount of financial weight Ford would have had to throw behind it. That was when the economy was still relatively stable, so it's understandable that the automaker's purse strings would need to be tightened for a while. That being said, there is still a very slight chance that the Raptor project could be brought back to life if Ford's circumstances were to rapidly change. We're still clinging onto the hope that this isn't the final goodbye to a fiery dual-cab with massive potential. Ford Ford Source Credits: Which Car
