The front appears most similar to that of Cadillac's flagship CT6 sedan - a car that, appropriately enough, offered its very own DOHC V8 engine, with a pair of turbochargers for up to 550 horsepower of thrust. Unfortunately, that engine - exclusive to the CT6-V and known as the "Blackwing" V8 - doesn't have anywhere to go after, and with CT6-V production now ended, it may simply disappear from GM's portfolio for good.
Cadillac Cadillac Cadillac Today, the idea of a rear-mid-engine Cadillac sports car seems as distant and unlikely as ever, as Cadillac has been tapped to spearhead GM's push into battery-electric propulsion. Along with that comes the news that Cadillac's new flagship - its replacement for the CT6, in essence, will be a luxurious electric sedan hand-built at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Put simply, there's no room anymore for a high-performance mid-engine sports car in Cadillac's lineup given the brand's new direction. It's a real shame, that, but we'll always have this rendering.

Venturing far from its routine "cushy luxury at an attainable price" shtick, Cadillac in the early 2000s introduced its own model built on the Chevrolet Corvette's capable, sporty chassis, replacing the Vette's unsophisticated small-block V8 with its own DOHC Northstar engines and giving it a power retractable hardtop. Ever since it was first suspected that the Chevrolet Corvette would switch over to a rear-mid-engine layout with the arrival of the C8, there were those who shared rumors that the platform would lend itself to a new Cadillac XLR. While those rumors appear to have been unfounded, we can now visualize what that might have looked like.Kleber Silva via Behance This rendering, courtesy of designer Kleber Silva, shows us what the new mid-engine Corvette might look like with a Cadillac front end in place of its actual sharp, angular, fighter jet nose.
