Ford Has Great News About The New Ford F-150

May. 16, 2020 6:45 AM ET by Martin Bigg Trucks / 3 Comments Time to get excited. One of the most anticipated new models debuting this year is the next-generation Ford F-150. Sadly, the production of the redesigned pickup has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down Ford's US production plants. It's not all bad news, however. Despite the delays, customer deliveries of the Ford F-150 will still start this year. "We are on track to deliver our all-new Ford F-150 to customers starting this fall," Kelli Felker, Ford global manufacturing and labor communications manager, told The Detroit Free Press. "The team continues to do an amazing job moving the program forward, even with coronavirus challenges. We look forward to showing the world our all-new pickup soon and start delivering to customers this year." F150Gen14 F150Gen14 It's a huge relief to find out that we don't have much longer wait for the next-generation F-150 to break cover. A specific date hasn't been confirmed, but we're expecting it to break cover this summer since it was reportedly going to be shown to the world this month before the 2020 Detroit Auto show was canceled. According to a fleet distribution news bulletin sent to dealers, the 2021 Ford F-150 will start production at Ford's Dearborn plant in Michigan on October 12 and on November 9 at the Kansas City Facility, but Ford hasn't made any official announcements yet. CarBuzz CarBuzz Last month, another bulletin report claimed the new F-150 will start production at Dearborn on September 28 and on October 26 in Kansas, but has since been delayed further. Production was originally supposed to start at the Dearborn plant this August. The order books for the new F-150 will allegedly open on July 15, so expect it to debut within the next two months. When the new Ford F-150 arrives, don't expect it to sport any radical exterior changes. However, the interior will be upgraded with a huge 15.5-inch infotainment display and a digital instrument cluster. Engine options from the current model are expected to carry over, but the new F-150 will also spawn new plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions of the popular pickup.
